It is immediately evident to every guest of the Lodge that its unique qualities come from its personalities. We enjoy getting to know you and hope you enjoy getting to know us. Let me introduce you to the staff.

Niall Leveson Gower has lived on North Uist since the age of ten months, he and his family also run the North Uist Estate, this ensures the Hotel benefits from fresh game when in season. Niall is a keen all round sportsman and can be relied on for advice on where to fish, shoot, bird watch or enjoy a walk. An accomplished diver Niall is responsible for the scallops that regularly feature on the menu.

Niall's wife Amanda originally hails from Norfolk and has lived in Uist since 1995 when her heart drew her North to marry Niall. Following the birth of twins Honor and Charlie in 2000 Amanda has thrown herself wholeheartedly into raising and maintaining the high standards of the Hotel. Amanda is also a lover of the great outdoors and can often be found on the shore at low tide gathering mussels and cockles for the Hotel.

Originally from the Isle of Lewis John Buchanan has fallen in love with North Uist and its people, particularly his wife Anne. John is a great chef adventurer and delights in cooking to perfection the wonderful fresh produce we are blessed with. John has become a keen gardener and now the Restaurant benefits from fresh vegetables, salad and delicious herbs from our poly tunnel. Another very keen sportsman John will offer excellent fishing advice, especially, if you are lucky, on his favourite fishing- sea trout in the sea pools.

John's wife Anne was born on the Island and is the backbone of the day to day running of the Hotel, she has a multitude of strings to her bow and her versatility is legend. From serving in the bar to waitressing in the dining room, or, through being a trained chef herself creating mouthwatering puddings, all are quietly and efficiently effected.

Fiona Ferguson maintains the high standard of housekeeping we are used to at Langass. With a wickedly dry sense of humour neither guest nor staff are safe. As with Anne, Fiona will also be found serving in the bar or Restaurant and being a keen cook herself creates delicious soups of a multitude of varieties.
